Purchasing Power Joins ‘Hire One Atlanta’ Initiative to Put People Back To Work

Earlier this year, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed challenged Atlanta’s 150,000 public-private companies to put Atlantans back to work. The Hire One Atlanta initiative encourages businesses to hire at least one new employee this year.

For its part, Purchasing Power has already hired 15 people year-to-date and will be recruiting for an additional 40 positions throughout the remainder of 2011.

The program is a metro-wide partnership that includes the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Atlanta Business League, Atlanta Regional Commission, the Metro Atlanta Chamber, SHRM Atlanta and the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, Inc. The program’s vision is to get a real sense of momentum going by infusing the community with new hires, which will lead to an increase in consumer and investor confidence. What follows is a new cycle of spending, thus reinvigorating Atlanta’s economy and allowing business to expand.
